Gina Hyunmin Lee is a Toronto-based Korean-Canadian pianist, collaborative artist and vocal coach who thrives on musical dialogue and partnership. Whether guiding singers and instrumentalists through their repertoires, performing chamber music, or coaching students, she views music-making primarily as a space for shared storytelling and human connection.

 

Gina earned her Doctor of Musical Arts at the Eastman School of Music under Dr. Andrew Harley, where she was awarded the First Place Pianist Award at the Jessie Kneisel Lieder Competition (2025) and the Barbara M. Koeng Award (2025). Her collaborative work has brought her to stages across North America, including the Music Academy of the West, Aspen Music Festival, Source Song Festival, and the Banff Centre. Deeply committed to advocating for underrepresented voices, she recently released the album Clairières; but a moment with soprano Elise Noyes, supported by the Canada Council for the Arts in August 2026.

 

As an educator, Gina carries forward the thoughtful pedagogy of her mentors - Dr. Midori Koga and the late Professor Marietta Orlov at the University of Toronto, alongside Dr. Andrew Harley at Eastman. Following teaching appointments at the Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Rochester, she now works as a vocal coach and collaborative pianist in Toronto.

 

Aside from music and piano, Gina likes to spend time in the kitchen, with friends and with her husband and their yellow lab, Bobo.
